DR. GRANDEL: From an Augsburg Mill to Modern Skincare

The brand story

From a mill in Augsburg

DR. GRANDEL grew from one chemist's practical curiosity into a family-run approach to professional skincare: research-minded, made in Germany, and designed for routines rather than shortcuts.

A research habit becomes a family company

DR. GRANDEL traces its beginning to the Pfladermühle, a historic mill in Augsburg. Chemist and nutritionist Dr. Felix Grandel was interested in putting wheat germ and bran—the mill's by-products—to useful work. In 1947, he founded Keimdiät GmbH at the site for dietary and cosmetic products built from that line of inquiry.

1957

The company describes itself as an ampoule pioneer from this year, a useful marker of how professional cosmetic formats became part of its identity.

Today

The Augsburg business remains family-owned. Third-generation leaders Ariane Grandel and Dr. Gabriel Duttler continue the company together.

The through-line is a working method: tradition beside modern formulation, selected nature-derived ingredients beside laboratory control, and textures chosen for a clear place in the routine.

Choose by routine position and texture

The most useful way to compare this edit is not by chasing one universal “best” cream. Start with the step you need, then choose the texture that suits how your skin feels today.

A practical kind of heritage

The history is long, but the everyday idea is simple: layer a lighter concentrate when wanted, then match the cream texture to your routine and comfort.
