A garage-scale start

Suavecito was founded in Santa Ana in 2009 by Pete Adame, Tony Adame and Jason “J-Bird” Venable. The early product was homemade pomade, mixed in five-gallon buckets and shared with friends in sandwich bags and food-storage containers. After Pete lost his job that year, a $1,000 severance check helped turn the hobby into a business.

Pomade supplied the practical starting point, but barber relationships and local culture gave the company its voice. The brand describes meeting customers through barbershops, tattoo shops, artists, car shows, music festivals and trade shows—not as borrowed scenery, but as communities in which its team participated.

The connecting idea is access: capable grooming products, close retailer relationships and a culture built face to face.

Beyond the original pomade

The line expanded across hair, shave and beard care while keeping the same grassroots frame. Suavecito says its original proposition paired quality men’s hair care with an approachable price, while allowing barbershops and retailers room to build viable businesses around it.

That broader routine is visible in the current selection below: conditioning for facial hair, a non-aerosol set spray that can work before or after pomade, and a Black Amber fragrance. Together, they show how a brand that began with one styling staple moved outward without leaving the barbershop behind.
