It began with hats

Gabrielle Chanel opened Chanel Modes at 21 rue Cambon in 1910. Her hats found an audience among French actresses, and the small boutique became the starting point for a wider fashion house.

A boutique in Deauville and a couture house in Biarritz followed. Her use of jersey and interest in ease of movement brought a different sensibility to women’s clothing.

A complete world of style

That history gives Chanel beauty a wider context. Makeup, skincare and fragrance belong to a house whose identity was shaped through the way a woman dressed and moved through life.

The appeal is the continuity of a strong aesthetic point of view, expressed in different forms. The products below offer a few introductions to the beauty collection.
