A small institute, a lasting idea

Clarins began in a Paris beauty institute, where Jacques Courtin-Clarins built his approach around listening to the women who came through the door. Plant extracts and hands-on treatments gave the young house its point of view.

That connection continued beyond the treatment room. Customer cards invited feedback, helping the company understand how its products fitted into everyday life.

Botanical curiosity, continually refined

The same interest in plants runs through Clarins’ oils, creams and body care. Its history is also a story of revisiting formulas: Double Serum, for example, has evolved through successive generations.

This combination of personal attention and ongoing research explains the house’s enduring character. The ritual matters, and so does the work that goes into the formula.
