A question about the hair itself

K18 co-founder Suveen Sahib describes the brand’s starting point as a conversation about how complicated haircare had become. He began studying the biology of hair and exploring protein engineering, eventually working with Professor Artur Cavaco Paulo’s team at the University of Minho in Portugal.

That research helped shape the K18PEPTIDE and the company’s biology-first approach. The focus is the structure of the hair fiber and how a formula can be designed around it.

Learning from nature

The brand uses the term biomimetics for an approach inspired by natural structures and processes. Its ambition is to make that scientific thinking practical, with fewer steps and carefully chosen ingredients.

The leave-in mask provides a recognizable introduction to the idea, while shampoos and conditioning products support different parts of haircare. It is a collection built around a specific scientific perspective rather than one styling look.
