A personal problem became a professional idea

Actress Paula Kent helped create Redken after experiencing the demands of styling on set. Her interest in gentler, scientifically informed haircare shaped a brand that would put the needs of hair and scalp at the center.

Protein, moisture and an acidic pH became guiding principles. Haircare was approached as something to understand and formulate carefully, as well as something that should look and feel good.

Built with the salon in mind

Redken’s connection to stylists remains central to its identity. Professional knowledge helps translate the formulas into a haircut, a color service or the care that follows at home.

The collection ranges from moisture-focused care to styling, giving different hair needs their own place. The thread running through it is Kent’s original curiosity about how haircare could work better.
