Alessi Apostrophe Orange Peeler

Alessi Apostrophe is a citrus peeler that does not look like one, which is rather the point of the Objets-Bijoux line it belongs to. Gabriele Chiave and the LPWK studio shaped it as a solid apostrophe in stainless steel, and the hooked tip is the working end, calibrated to score only as deep as the rind so it opens the peel without cutting into the fruit beneath. The same hook draws decorative patterns into the skin if you want them. It is 18/10 stainless steel with a satin finish that keeps fingerprints at bay, stands 6 cm tall and a shade under 3 cm across, and it is dishwasher safe. Two cast sections are welded together to give it real weight in the hand.

How to Use:

Hold the orange in one hand and the peeler in the other, then draw the hooked tip down the rind from top to bottom, scoring four or five lines. The peel lifts away in sections from there. Use the same hook to score patterns into the skin before peeling. Rinse or put it in the dishwasher afterward.
