Aveda Professional Perfecting Plant Peel Base is Step 1 of the two-part salon peel, a rich aroma-neutral cream that goes on first and then waits. It carries the exfoliating acid and the thermal agent, so nothing happens until the Activator is brushed over the top and the reaction starts. The acid clears intercellular debris and unblocks pores, while a fermented humectant keeps hydration from dropping away during the peel itself. Dry, normal, combination, acne-prone and mature skin are all in range, though highly sensitive skin is not. It is vegan and cruelty-free, and comes in the professional backbar size rather than a retail jar.
